Hooray! Double digit months! This also means that there are only TWO months until buggy turns the big O-N-E. This month has been a flurry of new developments and fun things. First, Riley got some more teeth! We went from ONE tooth at 9 months old to FOUR teeth now! She got 3 teeth last month! So now she's got 2 bottom ones and 2 up top... One of the middle ones and one of the side ones. And there are at least a couple more on the way. Riley is getting into everything. She's crawling all over the house from room to room, pulling up on everything and cruising at lightning speeds. She'll pull up to stand on things like walls, the dishwasher, and the fridge. She's testing out standing without holding on to anything, and is getting quite good at it. She loves to have crawling races around the house, and loves to "help" me with laundry. But really, she should be called "Riley the destroyer of all things folded and clean." I fold, she unfolds, and repeat. Outtakes from monthly chair photo attempt. Standing with her back to the camera and squishing her Ellie. Not good. She can walk holding on to just one of our hands which makes me think she's dangerously close to taking her first steps. She's learned to drink from a straw, and has pretty much mastered the sippy cup. Speaking of sippy cup- we've given Riley her first taste of cow's milk in a sippy cup and she liked it! We introduced milk because she's biting me like crazy and starting to nurse less and less, and so I've been trying to slowing start getting her little stomach used to whole milk. One of the many changes that will be occurring over the next few months! Sigh. And where is her other sock??? She has started waving bye-bye, and dances when music comes on (which is really just an exaggerated head bob). She eats everything and anything, though her all time faves are yogurt, cheese, and mashed chicken/kumara. Hummus, rice, and risotto aren't far behind. She loves to fake cough and she makes this little pig grunt that is just so. funny. I even got it on video just for you (at the end of this post). Books are still her favorite toys in the whole entire world, and she now even "reads" to herself for a while. She loves to breath really heavily through her scrunched up little nose which has caused Mark to call her "the raging bull." She gives the best kisses ever, and she constantly crawls up to my legs to be picked up. She's obsessed with her daddy and with peek-a-boo. She initiates peek-a-boo all on her own by pulling a blanket/toy/sweater over her eyes and then pulling it away. If I say, "where's Riley?" she'll start playing peek-a-boo with me. She knows the signs for milk, more, eat and book, but so far only really signs "more." Usually when I'm feeding her cheese. More. cheese. A different kind of "cheese." She understands and responds to "come here," and she even listens to me (sometimes) when I tell her "no." She has learned that she can climb onto the couch, and we're working on teaching her how to get down without nose-diving. We've started the process of weaning her from the paci, so she only gets it in the car or for naps/bedtime. I plan on letting her keep it for the next 6 weeks or so because I want her to take it on our 12 hour flight to the US in June, but after that we're getting rid of all pacis! I have a million pictures like this- all zoomed in on her face because she's trying to attack me/my camera. Cute nonetheless. Okay so warning, this video is kind of long, and it's a compilation of some funny things and habits Riley has developed over the last month. I'm guessing unless you're my mom, dad, sisters, or a few Riley obsessed friends (you know who you are) you probably won't be patient enough to watch it all. But it's pretty funny/cute, if I do say so myself. LOVE. THIS. BUGGY. Happy 10 months!
