Oh and I had to share this pic with you. Remember how I said she couldn't use her bouncer because her feet don't touch the ground? Well, enter my husband, the "think outside the box" kind of man...
Riley is 16 weeks old today! We no longer refer to her in terms of weeks (except to other moms of new babies, because they have an appreciation for what a difference a week can make at this age). So she's 3 1/2 months, in normal people speak. And to celebrate being 16 weeks, tonight, she put herself to sleep. I'm not talking about me rocking her until she was drowsy and then putting in her crib "drowsy but awake." I'm talking about putting her in crib sleepy, but very much awake. I thought there was no hope of her falling asleep. But sure enough, about 15 minutes later, with NO crying, she put herself to sleep. And I just about ran laps around the house with excitement. This is big. Oh yeah, and all this occurred WITHOUT the pacifier. Very, very big. Now of course I don't expect this to happen for every sleep, but at least I know that it CAN happen. It gives me hope. Oh and I had to share this pic with you. Remember how I said she couldn't use her bouncer because her feet don't touch the ground? Well, enter my husband, the "think outside the box" kind of man... Phone books. Genius. Oh and in case you were wondering... Riley LOVES playing Mario Kart. She makes it completely impossible for whoever is holding her to play, because she grabs on to that controller, but she watches the screen very intently. This was the second time she's "played" with us, and she loves watching the screen with all the bright colors and music/sounds effects! Keeps her occupied for a good 5 minutes or so. :)
