28 weeks

Let's change it up and start with a picture.  There I am, in all my pregnancy glory.  How attractive.  Anyway, moving on...

28 weeks!  This means that I start having midwife appointments every 2 weeks rather than every 4 weeks (although I'm off a week with my appointments I think so this won't actually happen until next week).  It also means that sometime this week or next I have to go in and get tested for gestational diabetes, as well as get my iron levels checked.  Anemia is pretty common in pregnancy, and while GD (gestational diabetes) only affects like 3-8% of pregnant women (depending on where you get your information), it can cause a few problems so it is routinely screened for.  Basically what happens is I have to chug this sugary, orange drink, and then wait an hour, and get my blood glucose levels tested.  If they are too high, then I failed the test, and have to do a more extensive follow up test to see if I have GD. (Failing the first test does not automatically mean that I have it).  But let's just assume/hope that I pass with flying colors!

About baby:  She weighs more than 2 pounds, although who knows how much more... 2.5 maybe?  Or maybe only 2 1/4... so I just say more than 2.  Basically each week she is growing, growing, growing, which means she is getting stronger.  Sometimes I seriously think she is trying to escape out of my belly button with the way she is moving around in there.  No rib jabs yet, and nothing painful still, so I'm treasuring every moment of it while it's still cute.  Sometimes I find myself just staring at my belly in awe of the crazy movement that is going on in there.

About me:  I'm getting bigger and bigger.  And eating more (I'd say those 2 go hand in hand)- my appetite has definitely gotten bigger in the last week or two.  Also, this week I had much less back pain and heartburn, so I felt a whole lot more comfortable, which I wasn't expecting.  And I even had a couple nights where I only woke up twice.  I still feel like I need a nap some days (especially while at work), but overall I'd say I felt pretty good this past week.  I did decide to rearrange the entire nursery one day, and I like it much better now. :)  Pictures will be coming soon, I need to wait for my mom to get here to get some finishing touches in there!

Weight gain this week: Another 1.5 pounds.  Looks like the two chocolate milkshakes a day are gonna have to go.
Total weight gain:  If my math is right... 12 pounds.  With 12 weeks to go.

In other news: We have decided on a name!  I'm still a little hesitant to share with everyone, but I'm getting a little bit more open to the idea, so who knows, you may be finding out our chosen name sometime soon!  There is still a part of me that is slightly concerned that the ultrasound technician was mistaken and we are actually having a boy.  And there really will be no confirmation before the baby is actually born since we don't have any more ultrasounds!  So yes, we picked out a boy's name just in case. :)

hmm... I have gained 19.5 lbs as of this morning but I think your belly is still bigger. I'm pretty sure that means my gain may be more evenly distributed which doesn't seem good...

very excited about all your kicking. I can feel both babies, but blake can't yet :(

and... excited about your name!!! We have decided the girl's middle name and narrowed down to 100 first name options - haha. haven't started on the boy's name yet. so much to do...

I always enjoy your posts - keep 'em up!
