32 weeks

Seems like just yesterday that I did the 31 week post.  So yes, time is still flying by.  Lots of new and different things this week, but not sure how much of that was a result of me getting more pregnant and how much was caused by a totally different routine and lots of stressors added in.  But here goes...

Me this week:  Well, I experienced my first real pregnancy swelling.  Now this was first caused by the 12 hour international flight I took, but then the next day as I was walking around and on my feet all day, I noticed my ankles and toes were swollen!!  It subsided a bit after that, but then I got all swollen again after getting off the plane on the way home.  I had to pry my ring off my finger!!  Also, I have been getting some really uncomfortable rib pain lately.  I don't know if baby is getting bigger, or is jamming a foot or hand in there, but something is causing me some serious discomfort.  Luckily it's not constant, and it seems to go away if I lay down, but of course, it's not always convenient to lay down just anywhere.  Oh AND, this past week I got my very first comments from strangers about being pregnant!!  A couple in the grocery store, one from a flight attendant (who so kindly referred to my pregnancy as a "condition"), and one from the lady at Dunkin donuts asking what kind of donut baby wanted.  Ha.  Guess I really am pregnant. :)

What else... my belly  button is pretty much flat by now... Mark likes to say it's an "outie" but it definitely isn't.  And hopefully it will just stay how it is for the next 8 weeks.  I have not been having any contractions, and I have been getting more and more tired, although I still think that's a result of the crazy past 10 days rather than just pregnancy.  Guess we'll see.

Baby this week:  Moving a lot, getting lots of hiccups, and showing us her pretty face during the 3d ultrasound.  Nothing else really feels new to me... Baby is gaining about 1/2 a pound per week now, and weighs about 4 pounds now!!  So, if we have 8 weeks left, at 1/2 a pound per week, we will get an 8 pound baby!!

Weight gain this week:  Uh oh.  Well, I weighed myself when we got back into NZ, after coming off the plane, and I had gained... FOUR pounds!!  But I am blaming that on (1) all the food available to me in the US and (2) the massive fluid retention that resulted from the flight.  But then again, I weighed myself again today (the real 32 week mark, and I had still gained 3 pounds... oops).  Can I still blame that on fluid retention??

Total weight gain:  17 pounds.

And now... a picture!

Mimi--I think you look fantastic--a 17 pound weight gain at this stage of your pregnancy--I spent my pregancy with Ben eating a Springfield favorite--Uncle Ed's Frozen Custard--and I think I gained 17 pounds by 20 weeks!!!

Uncle Dan and I have been thinking of you--all our love.

1. Mimi, you are supposed to gain weight when you are preggers silly goose!! This is good- this means baby is growing! I gained 4 pounds in my 23 hours in California and I cannot count a) being pregnant b) being back in the States (i never left) or really anything else.....

2. It was so wonderful to see you (even under difficult circumstances) and I love you and you look GREAT

3. I can vouch- your belly button is NOT an outie...

4. Of course you can blame it on fluid retention...

LOVE YOU
