A lonely day...

Ok so time for an honest post... today was a lonely day for me.  And there have been a few of those since we got here.  Mark seems to have settled in nicely... he's back by his parents, he's doing his chemistry thing, and he joined up with his old soccer team and has been going to their practices and games.  Which leaves me...  I am not working for another month, have not made any friends (how does a 22 year old married, American girl just meet friends in NZ... not sure yet...), and I don't really have the ability to talk to my friends back in the US.  All that adds up to a bit of loneliness (and facebook stalking...)  Mark is happy as can be to be back in NZ, and I am trying to be... but it just doesn't seem to be coming quite as easily.  It was very exciting to move into our new house, and exciting to paint and unpack and all that, and now... I've got a messy house, and long, long days  ahead.

So yes, I will say it... I am lonely.  I miss my friends in the US.  I miss being able to call my family whenever I feel like it (which was pretty much at least once a day).  I miss the Montulli family, and I miss coaching my little girls.  Sigh.

Ok anyway, there, I vented... now I need to figure out a way to make some friends... Any ideas?  (please keep in mind I have very little money...)   Anyone want to move to NZ?? I have some extra bedrooms... Ashley... you can send Jamie here for a week or so!  I'll teach him to kayak.  :)

ah babe, I wish I could help...I'll call you more often if that helps. But I know things will pick up for you soon. Hang in there, and know that I miss you too!

MY MIMI!!!

I am sorry! I understand how you feel- I felt the same way when I left california- I know MD is not as far as NZ, but I know it is lonely. Trust me, we miss you too, but I guess in the day to day you can lose sight of the fact that this is such a great and awesome adventure. I wish I could move there and I wish I could be there to help you unpack. I agree with your mom- things will pick up for you in no time! I know you want to stay on a tight budget- but find a favorite little restaurant or bar and start talking to the people who work there- get to know them and then who knows! Go to the beach (is it nearby?) Just talk to anyone- I basically begged girls at work to be my friend because I was lonely and it worked out!

I LOVE YOU AND IT WILL BE OK!!!!!
