We have exactly 3 weeks until we move to New Zealand. We have packed up all our belongings into a container, and they are en route as we speak (somewhere in the middle of the ocean I presume). We say prayers every day (or at least we should) that we see all of our stuff again! It should be interesting since we can move into our new house about 2 weeks before our stuff is going to arrive... it will be a very empty house for a few weeks!
Mark and I both have 3 weeks left of work, and while he may not be so sad to leave Roche, I think I'm going to go through some serious withdrawal leaving Jill and Jamie (the kids I take care of/play with every day!) Let's take a look at my day of "work" today...
I showed up at 8:40, JIll was being picked up for an all day camp, so it's just me and Jamie (he'll be 3 in August) for the day. We played with some trucks and trains for about 15 minutes, and then he requested to go to the "grayground." So we hopped in the car, drove to the playground, and, well... we played. Jamie found some little friends and followed them around for about 30 minutes, making friends with all their parents, talking up a storm (of which they could only understand about 50%, but it's the thought that counts). I managed to get momentarily distracted as a little boy was showing me his trucks, and I look around to check on Jamie, and he is full on wrestling in the sand with a little girl half his size. I look over to see her nanny pulling Jamie off the little girl in the nicest way possible, unsure really how to respond. Apparently the little girl started it, and Jamie decided to give her a good football tackle to retrieve his stolen toy! Nice.
Then, we went to lunch with Mark at Roche (Jamie looooooves Mark), and home for Jamie to take a 2 hour nap! And I forgot to mention that Jamie has been increasing his vocabulary on a daily basis, which is fun to see, but means he is like a little sponge.... his new favorite word? "Dammit!" And he will literally say it 100 times in a row, knowing that at some point, he is bound to get a reaction. I suppose there are worse things for him to be saying! I just pretend like I don't know him if he says it around other kids in public... :)
Anyway, we are getting ready to leave, and I am spending a ridiculous amount of money on a camera to bring to NZ, so I promise to have wonderful pictures to add to my updates once we get there. Hopefully all our friends and family can follow our adventures here and see what we're up to!
