Midwife appointment

Yet another midwife appointment today.  And guess what??  I tested negative for Group B Strep!  Yay!  I really really did not want to be hooked up to an IV during labor just for antibiotics. So now I don't have to be!  Although I'm kind of thinking my strength and desire to not have an epidural is waning... and that's never a good thing to have happen BEFORE even going into labor.  I mean it was never about being super tough or proving that I can do it naturally, I don't care about that.  It was more because I don't want to be stuck to a bed, laying on my back.  But lately I've been getting lots of menstrual-like cramps, only worse (since I didn't really get bad cramps before at all).  These kind of come and go, sometimes stick around for a little while, but I imagine these are going to be nothing compared to real contractions.  Today I asked my midwife about them again, and she says it's likely they are Braxton Hicks (practice contractions), and they're preparing my body for labor.  Well that's good I suppose, but they are actually quite painful, and I was hoping to save the painful "contractions" for when I'm actually in labor.  Boo.  We will see though, you never know.

As for my finger pain/numbness, it is getting worse by the day!!  And the thing is, my fingers don't really look swollen.  I don't have swelling anywhere else on my body, just apparently in my wrist and finger joints.  Which makes them REALLY painful, and pretty weak.  As in, it hurt to use my hands for the first few hours after I wake up.  So today I finally asked/begged the midwife for some sort of solution, or remedy.  And basically, I just get to deal with it for a few more weeks, and hope I'm not in that small percentage of women who keeps getting carpal tunnel AFTER pregnancy is done.  Yikes.  How would I take care of a baby with non-functional hands?

In other midwife updates... heartbeat is strong, baby is head down still (with little chance of flipping because of the complete lack of room in there, yay), and my belly is measuring 36 cm!  That means in one week it grew 2 cm!!  That somehow puts me in the 90th percentile for fundal height!  Whaaa? Oh well.  What else, my blood pressure is still good, so all is looking good!  At this stage some people do internal exams to check for dilation and any progress, but not us!  Which I think is good, since those things are not actually a good indication of when you'll go into labor.  I could be 0 cm dilated and go into labor tomorrow, or 3 cm dilated and not go into labor for 3 more weeks.  So it's kind of pointless for me to know.  I think that's it!

Oh and in other non baby related news, for some reason google has disabled one of my email accounts.  So I am not getting any emails sent to my "bartlett" email account.  I'm trying to resolve this problem, but google is making my life difficult and not cooperating.  I still have my other email account though, google hasn't ruined that yet, so try me there.  If this problem doesn't get resolved, I might be finding myself with a new, non-gmail account very soon.  Anyone else ever had this problem??
