Anyway, now that we have a baby, I'm determined to bring a little bit of US Halloween to New Zealand. Therefore, Mark and I are throwing a Halloween party for all the people in our little mom's group. I'm working hard to convince all the moms that they want to dress their babies up for Halloween, so at least Riley won't be the only one in costume. And I can't wait! I'm trying to plan all the fun Halloween snacks and drinks and decor we can have! And I have to decide which costume Riley is going to wear, seeing how we have three of them! Maybe I will lend the other two to some of the other babies. We'll see. For those of you that haven't actually seen the costumes we have... good. It will make the Halloween pictures that much better!
I must say it is a little weird to have Halloween be in the spring. And to not be able to buy candy corn. Or have the supermarkets overtaken by Halloween candy and decor. Or to not be able to take baby to a pumpkin patch... or even be able to buy a cute little orange pumpkin for her. Sad, really. We'll just have to improvise, I suppose. Maybe we'll carve a watermelon... or a squash. Where there's a will, there's a way. We're preparing by wearing Halloween attire before it gets too small...
