Anyway, back to sleep training night one. So after bath, we got her into PJs, read stories (sort of, she cried in protest because she was pretty tired), then I nursed her right at 8:00. She was verrrrry sleepy after eating, but definitely not asleep. I picked her up, told her I loved her and it was time for bed, and put her down in her crib. She immediately went from pretty sleepy to WIDE awake and looked at me like WHAT ARE YOU DOING??? I said goodnight, and I left her room. Before I could even leave the room she had already rolled onto her tummy. She stayed there for about 2 minutes without crying, and then she started to cry. And I started my stopwatch. I went in after 3 minutes, and she had rolled back on to her back. I stayed in her room for maybe 15 seconds, and then left again. After that check, I left Mark in charge and I went grocery shopping (we had decided in advance this was what we were going to do because he didn't want a crying baby AND a crying wife like last time). Anyway, apparently he went back in 5 minutes later and flipped her over to her back again, and that made her mad and she cried harder. So the following check 8 minutes later, her left her on her tummy, and just briefly rubbed her back, and then left. She fell asleep before the 10 minute check. On her tummy. For the first time. She has been asleep in her crib, by herself for almost 2 hours now. I didn't dare take a picture of her, so a picture via the monitor will have to do...
I was dreading this all day long. I almost convinced myself like 10 times that we shouldn't do it. I came up with all kinds of reasons. But in the end, Mark and I both knew we needed to do this. Riley needed it. So we did it. She woke up from her last nap at 4:45, she was totally happy until about 7ish, when she started to show signs of getting tired. We tried to keep her awake and happy a little longer than usual, so she got in the bath at 7:30. Clearly we had one thing on our minds during bath time... My husband thinks he's funny. Because I certainly can't. In fact, I would have bet a TON of money that she would have cried for at least an hour and a half. Mark and I didn't even know what to do with ourselves this evening! In fact, I'm going to go spend some time with him, since we are baby-free!!! I'll let you know how the rest of the night goes tomorrow.

So glad it went good. Carsyn falls asleep fine on his own but wakes every 3-4 hours. I want to try sleep training. I did it with Dustyn at about 8 months he wouldn't fall asleep on his own. How did she do?
