This is her, "I love spoons but I don't think I love what's on them" face. P.S. she has some of the cutest bibs, I must say...
When we started solids, Riley LOVED them. She could down a jar of sweet potatoes in 30 seconds flat. No seriously. She was like a baby bird with her mouth open wide waiting for more food. She liked bananas too, so we decided to be bold and try pears. She hated them. She also hated peas. And carrots. And avocado. Like, wanted nothing to do with them. Then, once we returned to New Zealand, they don't have sweet potatoes, so I decided to make some of my own baby food. So I spent one day making delicious baby food (pumpkin and kumara, to be exact), and Riley hates it. She refused to eat it, and if we got any in her mouth, she spit it out and gagged. Huge fail. So I stopped feeding her solids for about 5 days to avoid the battle. Today, we tried again. I went to the store and bought a variety of stage 1 foods, and we tried pear/banana puree. This is her, "I love spoons but I don't think I love what's on them" face. P.S. she has some of the cutest bibs, I must say... And then she opened up that gob of hers.... Success! She ate about 1/3 of a jar pretty easily! Of course I decided to then press my luck and try and mix it with a little rice cereal (ya know, add a little iron to her diet), and she flat out refused to eat it. So she either hates rice cereal, or hates the texture that the food gets with rice cereal in it. Fine, rice cereal is out. If that's all it takes to get her to eat food, then no problem. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I'm hoping she will eat more solids simply because she seems to be soo hungry and my milk supply can't keep up with her! I went today to look at formula just in case I needed to end up supplementing, and I got overwhelmed by (1) the cost and (2) the bajillion different kinds/brands, so I left without buying any. Hopefully we can make solids and breast feeding work!

Carsyn just doesn't like baby food at all. We have just been giving him mushed up table food. He just spits out all the baby food. She really doesn't "need" solids until she is a year old. Breast milk is really all she needs. So I wouldn't worry with the formula. :D
