Oh warm, sunny weather, how I've missed you so. This NZ winter has been bitterly cold and rainy. And usually, I don't mind that. In fact, cold rainy days mean sipping hot chocolate, cuddling on the couch wrapped in blankets, and falling asleep to the sound of rain on the rooftops. It's an excuse to stay indoors, to watch lots of movies, and sneak extra middle of the night snuggles with your toasty-bodied husband, even though he stays fast asleep. Winter can be good. Plus, winter means Riley gets to wear the cutest little hats.
But you reach a point where you long for the sun, to be able to go outside without wearing multiple layers. So when it does decide to come out from behind the clouds, you have to take advantage. And the baby? She doesn't even know what to do with herself. Unfortunately, the temperature is still pretty chilly, so we only stayed outside for about 45 seconds all bundled up. Baby steps.
On another note, guess what arrived today...
My little kiwi baby got her very first passport today! Now we are all set to go to the US. Sort of. Still lots of packing to do, lots more mental preparation needed by me before taking the 9 week old on a 12 hour flight... But I am definitely looking forward to the warm weather and lovely sun!!
