One thing we've started this year with Riley is an "activity" advent calendar. Each day has something new to do that is related to Christmas or the holiday season somehow. Some are very small, and some are more extravagant. So far, we've done the following: (1) Pick out Christmas cookies at the bakery (and eat them, of course) (2) Read "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (3) Make Christmas ornaments (4) Drink hot chocolate (5) Watch "The Wiggles Christmas" and (6) Go visit the big Christmas tree at Stanford mall. Today was the Stanford mall excursion. My big plan was to get some adorable photos of her in front of the big tree, looking at least somewhat festive. Too bad RIGHT next to the big tree, was a nice big fountain. As soon as Riley saw the water, there was no way to get her to "pose" in front of the tree. All she could do was yell "foun foun foun" on repeat. And how could I pull this excited face away from her precious fountain?? I did manage to lure her over to the Christmas tree eventually, but getting her to look at the camera was just not happening. There were much prettier things to see, apparently. And just like that, we were back at the fountain. But with a Minnie Mouse Santa hat, at least. Luckily all these photos were taken before the big fall she had on the concrete, which gave her a gigantic goose egg right in the middle of her forehead. Poor baby!
