I had this plan to go down to the beach just before sunset and take some pictures of Riley. It was going to be great, we'd eat dinner and then go, and be back in time for bath and bed. Except it didn't go at all how I had hoped. We didn't get out the door on time, so we were rushing to get to the beach before the sun had set. When we got there it was cold, and Jackson was asleep in his car seat in a short sleeve onesie, way under dressed for the weather. The sun was hiding behind the hills, and we'd have to walk a ways in order to actually see it set on the water, and we weren't going to make it. Mark decided to stay in the car with the little one, and Riley wanted nothing to do with the camera. But I wasn't ready to give up just yet... So we hardly set foot in the sand, and after about 30 seconds Riley said "go see daddy? go see baby?" and headed back towards the car. I tried to convince her to stay but she was not having it. And then guess who appeared from around the corner... DADDY! and BAAAAABY! So we got a few more photos and the trip wasn't a total bust. This next photo was the face she made when she saw Mark and Jackson... Jack Jack was all bundled up and ready for the wind. We even managed to get a few photos of ourselves with the little ones. I swear one of these days I'm going to use my tripod and remote and get some decent family photos! But for now, individual parent photos will have to do. This next picture cracks me up, Jackson is like what. is. happening... So next time we'll head out a bit earlier, bring a picnic dinner and some toys, and relax and enjoy the evening. And we'll bring blankets. Lots of blankets.
