On Monday March 29th, Megan (Mark's mom) turned FIFTY!! On her birthday, we had a nice quiet dinner to celebrate, with very little fuss and very few gifts for her. We purposely wanted to make it out to be just another birthday, no big deal. But secretly, we had other plans. For the past couple of weeks, we had been planning a big 50th b-day surprise party with all her friends and family! The plan was to get Megan out to our house and to watch Mark's soccer game, and then we would hang out for a little bit, and then we were taking her back to her house for a BBQ with Rowland. Well, everything went according to plan, and after Mark's soccer game we drove her back to her house, where everyone was waiting! Now we couldn't really pull of the whole surprise while we walked in the door thing, since she knew something was up when she saw all the cars lining the street! We had almost 40 people there, with lots of food, decorations, balloons, and CAKE! I decided to try and make a fun cake myself, but it was proving to be just a little too difficult and I was worried it was going to be a complete disaster, and I ended up just ordering one from a bakery. But check it out!!
It turned out amazing!! All in all I think everyone had a good time, and Megan was definitely surprised!! Rowland did a great job of getting it all organized and keeping it a secret, and it was all worth it in the end. Here's a picture of her with her work buddies! Note the hat and glass she's holding (if you can't see it, they both say "50" in honor of the special occasion).
Happy birthday Megan!!
