And I'll leave you with a little teaser of something else we did today. I don't want to reveal too much, as some of you family/friends reading this may or may not be receiving a little Halloween surprise in the near future. But the end result looked a little bit like this:
For a long time Riley wasn't interested in playgrounds. If we took her to a playground, she would mostly just observe what was going on around her, OR try to eat the bark/rocks/leaves. And granted she was still a little young for all the climbing and exploring aspects of a playground, but she didn't really care about the slides or swings either. But now? Total 180. She LOVES playgrounds. She sees one and wants to go playASAP. She cries when we have to leave. She loves to climb, to explore, to go down slides and through tunnels. She's still not quite at the stage where I can just let her loose and sit back and watch, but I don't mind playing with her! The playground we often go to is basically Riley dreamland. The only thing it doesn't have is a swing set, but that's alright, it's got lots of other things to make up for it. It actually has FIVE separate play areas in one location- one of which is a huge sandbox with a little playhouse in it. And Riley loves it. She opens and closes all the doors and windows, "rings" the doorbell, and loves to play peek-a-boo with the shutters. I tried to capture the look of sheer surprise she got every single time she threw open those shutters and I yelled "peek-a-boo!", but I just couldn't get a good picture of it. So just pretend this is a "surprised face" she's making, and trust me, she was surprised. :) She spent a good amount of time ringing the doorbell, then going in and out of the house, closing the door behind her each and every time. I'll add playhouse to my list of things to get Riley someday. Might be a little hard to get that back to New Zealand with us. :) I wasn't really able to get pictures of Riley on any of the other parts of the playground because she's too fast climbing up all the structures and kamikaze diving off the edge, sooooo it's not exactly safe for me to be trying to capture the moment with my camera. Crazy baby. And I'll leave you with a little teaser of something else we did today.
