Fast forward to 9:30pm. Mark had gone back to work, so I was home by myself. I hear Riley start to cry, and I go in there and she is just laying there on her tummy crying hard. This is NOT normal. Normally if she wakes up she at least sits up, more often stands up in her crib. So I go to grab her and she is on FIRE and she immediately starts shaking and crying harder. At this point I'm freaked out. I try and take her temp but she is flailing and crying so hard, so I decide to try and nurse her to calm her down first. I can't get a hold of Mark, and when I finally do take her temp it's 103.5. Finally I get in touch with Mark, who comes home from work, and we took Riley in to the hospital.
When we get there Riley's fever is still really high, and hasn't gone down at all with a dose of fever reducer. We see a doctor who checks Riley's mouth, stomach, breathing, ears, and Riley is NOT happy about any of it. The doc doesn't really see anything wrong, then decides to check Riley's ears again. She says that maybe she sees signs of an ear infection in one of her ears? Wasn't a very convincing diagnosis but we got some antibiotics and we had to wait about an hour to see if her temp dropped, which it did, so we were allowed to go home. And my poor poor baby was so tired and feeling so crummy, the only way I could get her to sleep was in bed with me.
So, after a miserable few days, she's feeling better, although she absolutely HATES taking her medicine, which is unfortunate since we have to give it to her 3 times a day. Bleh. But she's finally back to eating food and allowing me to put her down for a few minutes here and there. :)
