And we end a fantastic day with some bath time smiles. I have not perfected the art of taking decent photos in a horribly fluorescent-lit bathroom, so they are each different camera settings and the last looks weird/freaky because of the camera flash. But she's cute anyway, no?
Things are getting better and better with Riley every day. Not that they were ever bad, maybe just a little challenging. But today, after her 2 hour morning nap (yay), we made a spontaneous decision to take her to "Lamb and Calf Day" by our house. Basically it's like a little fair with a petting zoo and lots of good food and pony rides. This would be fun! So as we started to drive there (it's only a 15 minute walk, but remember, the baby hates the stroller), we saw that there were cars parked literally a mile away... so we parked and walked. I strapped Riley into the baby bjorn, facing in rather than out for the first time since it was SO windy. And not two minutes after we started walking, it started to rain. So I threw a blanket over her head, and we carried on. But once we were almost there, we had to seek shelter to avoid the rain, and we decided it wasn't worth it, and we should go home. And of course, not two minutes later, the sun came out and the rain stopped! We contemplated going back, but I looked down AND THE BABY FELL ASLEEP. While we were out. In the frontpack. Some of you might be like, ya so what? Umm, my baby does not just fall asleep wherever/whenever. I mean, she had just woken up from a 2 hour nap, and she just randomly fell asleep again. So Mark drove home, and I walked in hopes of keeping the sleeping baby asleep, which was actually successful. This is a big deal!! And she woke up when we got home and gave me this face. So we decided to push our luck and take her out with us to run some errands. We went to Palmer's (like a plant/gardening place) and I just carried her around with me for about an hour, and she was happy as can be, and then she FELL ASLEEP ON THE WAY HOME. Again, this baby does not just fall asleep. Even in the car. But she did. And she slept in her car seat once we got home as well. She's not really what I would call a go-with-the-flow kind of baby, usually. But today ruled!! I was almost inspired to take her grocery shopping with me. I said almost. Grocery shopping is one of my least favorite activities, so I'm not quite ready to make it even more challenging.
