But anyway, we're home, it's raining and hailing sideways, so we're cuddling on the couch with the sleeping baby watching all our TV shows we recorded while we were away! Eventually we'll unpack. Eventually. But for now, time to unwind. And marvel at what a good baby we have.
We made it. And you know what? The flight back was perfect. I will admit, I was very nervous about the 12 hour flight home. I mean, I know Riley did great on the way here, but leading up to this trip back, she had been quite cranky. I think she was going through a growth spurt, as she was eating every 2 hours all day, and not sleeping long, and was just super cranky. And for the very first time, it seemed like I just didn't have enough milk to satisfy her (hence the crankiness). So to say I was worried about this flight would be an understatement. But all that worry was for nothing. Our flight was a 9pm flight, so I fed her in the airport at 8:00, she fell asleep at 8:30, and slept for the next 7 hours straight. Then she basically woke up to eat, went back to sleep, and repeat. Not one single peep out of her the entire flight. She was amazing. And she slept in the sling for the whole transfer through customs/ immigration, and was only slightly fussy on the 45 minute flight until she fell asleep. Mark and I even got a little bit of sleep as well! There was also another baby on our flight, who cried for HOURS. And normally I'd feel totally sympathetic rather than annoyed, but his parents did nothing to stop his crying!! They stuck him in his bassinet, put on headphones, and let him cry it out for hours, on a crowded plane! I couldn't even believe it. Not really an appropriate place do practice cry-it-out. That would be the reason we get all these dirty looks and rude comments when flying with our angel baby. We only got one comment thus time, when some lady looked at us as we walked by her row and said, "Just keep on going back" really rudely, ya know, since clearly her 45 minute flight would be totally ruined if the baby sat in a row close by to her.

Glad you made it back with your angel baby :) I was worried that if you had a bad flight back to NZ that you would try to back out of your December trip. Glad that you'll still be coming back.
